Alfonso Lombana Sánchez is a researcher, translator and humanities expert. After studying Germanic Philology, he obtained his Ph.D. with a thesis on the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy and its literature as a model for the European Union (2015). This work was awarded the Extraordinary Doctoral Prize of the Complutense University of Madrid, Spain (2015). Between 2015 and 2021 he worked in Germany as a researcher and translator for his own company: Lombana Language and Literature.

Regarding his scientific contributions, Alfonso is the author of several books, book chapters and research papers. He has also participated in prestigious research projects and international conferences throughout Europe. In addition, he has translated several books and papers for more than fifteen different institutions worldwide.

In the last ten years, he has focused his research on textual criticism and Central European Latin literature of the Middle Ages. It was through his work on the Hungarian Middle Ages that he came across the works of Janus Pannonius, which he has edited and translated.

Janus Pannonius is one of the most important writers of the 15th century, therefore it is necessary to recover his works. Alfonso has demonstrated this in his research, analyzing aspects of linguistic criticism and appreciating the need to better study not only his work, but also the author's legacy preserved in Seville.
